Steve Carell (The Office, 40 Year Old Virgin) and Tina Fey (30 Rock, Baby Mama) team up for an adventure that turns a run-of-the-mill married couple's date upside down - way upside down, in Date Night. (20th Century Fox)They play Phil and Claire Foster - a stuck-in-a-rut couple who decide to spark up their relationship by arranging a date in the big city (away from their suburban boredom) but become entangled in a cat-and-mouse style chase after Phil fatefully steals the restaurant reservation of a no-show couple called the 'Tripplehorns' in order to treat his wife. In what pursues (being chased by the Police and two thugs), you would be forgiven for feeling a nostalgic reminder of other 80's 'one crazy night' caper movies such as Adventures in Babysitting, Sixteen Candles and 'A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon'.
Carell and Fey's honest performances generate a heartwarming on-screen chemistry that leads to hilarious dialogue and a surprise feeling of connection with their characters' predicaments. The wit does not only lie in the dialogue but also in the action - the car chase is unusually funny! The two leads are supported by a fine cast that includes Mark Wahlberg (The Italian Job, The Departed), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island), Mila Kunis (That 70s Show) and James Franco (Spiderman) among others.. If you are looking for a night away from the kids (and a way to spark up your relationship with your partner) - this movie is definitely worth your time and money!!!
