Money: It's all about the Money, Money, Money... Pre: Budget Antics 2012

rightWe Irish are very prudent when it comes to our pennies these days. But that can't be helped. If the government keeps inventing new levies and taxing our every move, of course the only brand new thing we'll get this year is a disgruntled attitude. Speaking of which, the Irish government haven't changed theirs, the selfish shower of gits.

We all understand, economically we are in dire straits as a nation but the way they go about things - hiding the news that Ireland's VAT rate is to climb by 2%, hello? I really don't know which is more embarrassing - their hideous, dishonest behaviour or the Germans 'accidently' leaking our country's budget information to, I don't know, the entire world media!

Now there's rumours of reductions in social welfare, carer's and children's allowance and allsorts of benefits including one-parent family. Private sector workers are calling on the public sector to make pension and salary cuts - we're all debating, hell some of us are screaming at each other about who needs it the most! Is that really fair?

Generally as a people, we are being forced to pay the unpaid developers (NAMA) debts while in the meantime we personally accumulate quite a few of our own. Many of us have lost jobs, taken redundancies, are in negative equity with properties or on the verge of losing one. The decreasing portion of us left actually lucky enough to bring home an income are also made endure an extra hefty tax called the Universal Social Charge (tell me, is it 'social' because we all get to pay together? Duh) As far as I can see, we are all getting deducted in more ways than one. There is no winner.

Wasn't it Albert Einstein that said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Therefore our new coalition government must be insane! I had hope after the Fianna Fáilers were dismantled, now from what I can gather we just have more mice in a cage scurrying around for shredded bits of IMF cheese! Government welfare cheese! They've learnt nothing! As far as I can gather they've followed the same crumb track laid down by Fianna Fáil which is completely IMF driven and with all the aforementioned cuts, it will just affect the poorest in society again.

Cut the retired TD's pensions! Ex-Taoiseach/Tyrannosaurus Brian Cowen is reportedly entitled to an ANNUAL pension worth €132,000 for most probably sitting on his arse for the rest of his life. Mary Harney is trying to justify every cent of her state pension conveniently forgetting all those complimentary "stick it on expenses" hairstyles she received during the tiger years etc, I'd like to surgically remove more than her pension! Cap them at €80,000 per annum or something! No state officials of this calibre are on this type of moola throughout Europe and maybe the world. Are they utterly and alternatively blindsided? This will ruin the country.

No wonder we have become equally astute when it comes to our balance sheets! If the ex-Bertie banknotes of this country won't pay their share of the debt, why the hell should we? Now the concern again is how unpatriotic we are because some of us Irish choosing to shop up North in preparation for Christmas and taking business from our shops is only disgraceful. You shocking shower of cross-border shopping traitors!! You can afford Christmas?!
