Radio: Jim-Jim quits 2FM on facebook video!
Jim-Jim Nugent from the infamous 'Colm and Jim-Jim Breakfast Show' announced on his profile on social networking site facebook, that he was quitting the RTE show only hours before the TV station launched their new autumn schedule.
Jim-Jim posted this YouTube video to his Facebook page yesterday featuring
a cartoon version of CNN presenter Larry King publicising Jim-Jim's
departure. The animated character said: "It is with great sadness that I must
tell you that Jim-Jim Nugent has resigned from RTE and 2fm today. "There are many reasons but the main one was they refused to remove music of Glee from the fecking playlist," it claimed.
The news of Jim-Jim's departure comes soon after it emerged that fellow radio host, Nikki Hayes, would also be axed from 2fm.
I don't know where the world of Irish radio is heading or what we will do with the loss of these talented DJ's. Will morning radio in this country ever be the same again? Meh! I wish Jim-Jim and Nikki Hayes all the best in the future and look forward to hearing what is coming next for them because I'm sure this is not the end.
The announcement was actually well received by former work colleagues, according to the former host. The 38-year-old said his goodbyes to loyal listeners on Friday and although he
was offered other slots by RTE, he refused them. He denied claims he was leaving the station due to an alleged rift with his colleague and declared "myself and Colm will remain great friends".
