Technology: Mobile Phones DO NOT raise risk of Brain Cancer
The largest ever international study of mobile phone safety has concluded that devices do not raise the risk of brain cancer, except possibly a slight increase in tumours among the most intensive users.
Experts who studied almost 13,000 cell phone users over a period of 10
years, hoping to find out whether mobile devices cause brain tumours, have said the results of their research is largely inconclusive.
The study which was done by the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer (I.A.R.C.) threw up mainly incomplete results but researchers claim that suggestions of a possible link to cancer may exist but demanded deeper examination.
The telecoms industry which contributed $6 million (€5m) to the $24 million Interphone study through an "arm's length" funding mechanism, said the findings supported its view that mobile phones are safe. Phew!
