Radio: 'Ryan' Line is back open in August!
The namesake is a perfect fitting as 'Late Late Show' presenter Ryan Tubridy is to take over the RTE 2FM radio slot formerly occupied by Gerry Ryan.
Tubridy, who originally had declined the offer in respect of the death of his former friend Gerry, eventually decided to take the post allegedly at no extra cost to RTE. He had declared nobody could replace Gerry and couldn't even consider taking over from him but clearly things have settled down for him since the sad events.
"Ever since the awful news of Gerry Ryan's passing, there has been a
lot of speculation as to what will happen with his programme. I have
had a long, hard think, and I feel that the time is right to move to
RTE 2fm".
Tubridy, who has decided to abandon his slot on Radio 1 added that he considered it an 'honour' to take over Gerry Ryan's show and while he will always be "mindful of Gerry and the audience he built up
down through the years", his new role on 2FM will be presented "in a different time slot and different style". He concluded that he "will consider it an honour and a privilege
to sit in the chair he sat in for so long".
Ryan Tubridy will open the 'Ryan Line' again in late August on RTE 2FM, 9-11am
